New 2017 Jeep Patriot at Bossier Chrysler Dodge Jeep RAM for Hillsboro, TX
For 2017, The Jeep Patriot adds onto its already strong base, yet still remains one of the best-priced SUVs in America. The 2017 Jeep Patriot has a host of packages and features add-ons that drivers can benefit from and implement, and more than a few drivetrain possibilities. The compact-SUV Patriot gets a strong fuel economy of up to 30 mpg highway and has 30-plus safety features, including standard Electronic Stability Control (ESC), a touring-tuned suspension, and Hill-descent Control as an election.
Under the Patriot's Hood
The Patriot has 2 possible engine choices and then 5 different transmission choices! The 2.0-liter engine can use a continuously variable transaxle II (CVT2) with Auto Stick (2WD only) transmission-- otherwise, it's fit with a five-speed manual (2WD only) transmission. The Patriot's 2.0L DOHC 16-valve dual VVT four-cylinder engine sees 158 horsepower and 141 lb-ft of torque. The 2.4-liter, depending on model and 2- or 4-wheel drive setups, can be paired up with a 5-speed automatic, a six-speed automatic with Auto Stick, or the continuously variable transaxle II low (CVT2L) transmission. A 2.4L DOHC 16-valve dual VVT four-cylinder engine is an option for the 2017 Jeep Patriot with its 172 horsepower and 165 lb-ft of torque. The Freedom Drive I is an always-engaged (for bad roads) assistant, and the Freedom Drive II is deliberately made for success in off-road situations. The larger engine can be added onto with two unique all-wheel drive systems (as options) with the Freedom Drive I and/or the Freedom Drive II. Front-wheel drive is available on either engine, but then that also outlines the possible transmission configurations. The Trailer Tow Prep Group can be put with the Patriot too, which rounds things out with hill-start assist and hill-descent control. When the Jeep Patriot is properly equipped, it can tow 2,000-lbs.
Design of Jeep Patriot
The 2017 Jeep Patriot has 2 trims (Sport or Latitude), and 3 different versions (the 75th Anniversary Edition trim, the Sport SE trim, and the High Altitude Edition trim), ending up with 5 total. There are several packages that can be had with these trims, including the All-weather Capability Group, which includes all-season floor mats, a daytime running headlamp system, tow hooks, an engine block heater, 17-inch Tech Silver aluminum wheels (on Sport) with P215/65R17 OWL All-terrain tires (4x4 models only). The Power Value Group - includes automatic headlamps, power windows with driver's side one-touch down feature, remote keyless/illuminated entry, heated manual folding mirrors, speed-sensitive power door locks, bodycolor door handles and a liftgate appliqué (requires air conditioning). Not to be forgotten is the Freedom Drive II Off-road Group, which is available to be added on to the Sport and Latitude models. It includes a CVT2L automatic transaxle with 19:1 crawl ratio and 4WD Off-road Mode, Hill-descent Control with grade-sensing, and a brake lock differential system (BLDS). It then continues adding in helpful stuff like Hill-start Assist (HSA), tow hooks, a trailer tow wiring harness, a 140-amp alternator, a driver's seat height adjuster, an engine oil cooler, a bright exhaust tip, a fuel tank skid plate, a transmission/engine oil pan skid plate, a full-size spare, all-season floor mats, a 'Trail Rated' badge and P215/65R17 OWL All-Terrain tires with either 17-inch Tech Silver aluminum wheels, or 17-inch Mineral Gray aluminum wheels on Sport models (4x4 models only).
